Dreaming of a White Christmas // The White Company at Kildare Village

livingandbeauty.com The White Company

When I left Edinburgh to return home to Ireland people often asked me what I missed most. Of course the obvious things like friends, the cool relaxed mode of living in Edinburgh and the city itself - its stunning architecture, old cobbled streets, its nooks and crannies and old stone stairs tucked in between buildings - I could go on and on. And then there were the lifestyle aspects like bars and restaurants and shops. When it came to shops, The White Company was one I missed the most.

Yes I could still buy most items online but it was their physical store experience I would miss. Popping into The White Company on George Street my lunch break was my little slice of heaven and I loved their yearly Christmas shopping night with the convivial atmosphere, ambient playlist and their signature 'Winter' fragrance wafting around the store. Over the past few Christmases back home in Ireland, I have consoled myself with The White Company's inclusion at The Marvel Room in Brown Thomas with an edit of their always fabulous Christmas collection, so imagine my delight upon hearing they were opening their first stand-alone boutique here in Ireland at Kildare Village!

I love my lush linens from The White Company

I popped down there recently to check out their newly opened outlet boutique. If you're not familiar with the brand, The White Company is a UK luxury lifestyle brand offering "impeccably stylish, beautifully designed products, principally in white for over 20 years." They range across homeware, lush linens, luxury candles and bath and body products and they also have the most wonderful children's collection called The Little White Company. Their ethos is style and substance, over fashion and frivolity - pieces are simplistic in design yet steadfast in their attention to detail and all are of the most superb quality. I have had towels and linens from The White Company for years now, and they still look great and wash so well.

The outlet is a select edit from previous seasons and current must-haves - from cashmere socks to candles, duvets to diffusers, rich linens to luxe robes along with a lovely edit of trinkets and decorations for Christmas. Here are a few pieces I picked up on my visit.

Fir Tree Diffuser

This scent is fantastic and evokes the very essence of Christmas in one sublime scent. Even as I write this, I can smell it in the room and it creates that perfect festive atmosphere.

Wild Blackberry Candle and Shower Gel

This is a gorgeous scent and any piece in the collection would make a perfect gift this Christmas, or to simply have in your home just for you or for your guests staying over the holiday season. I love the candles from The White Company - they burn so well and look so beautiful too - a nice touch would be to light a candle in your guest room or bathroom upon their arrival to create a welcoming atmosphere in your home.

Mercury Pillar Candle Holder

I have been lusting after these the last few years for our Christmas table. An elegant timeless design and perfect for all dinner occasions to give your mantelpiece or tablescape that added wow factor.

This is just a wee taste of the range available there with new additions all the time. I highly recommend their bed linens and towels - they really do last very well. A wise lady who worked for many years in the Linens Department at Arnotts once told me, " spend your money where you spend your time"  - good shoes, good mattress and good bed linens. I have adhered to that steadfast advice ever since.

So, though the weathermen can't guarantee us a sprinkle of white this Christmas, The White Company can most definitely guarantee beautiful pieces to make your Christmas days merry and bright.
