West Elm // Brooklyn's finest arrives at Arnotts

To say I am excited by this recent news, is an understatement. For the past while now, my Instagram feed, favourite interiors sites, and interiors magazines have all taunted me with the most exquisite pieces of furniture, soft furnishings and home accessories by Brooklyn's finest mid-century inspired and modern furniture purveyors, West Elm.

Until now, West Elm's amazing range hasn't been available in Ireland  - it's been like ogling the sweeties behind the glass counter - visibly desirable but unattainable. Then, West Elm announced that this November, they're opening their biggest 'store within a store' right here in Ireland at my old workplace Arnotts and online at arnotts.ie

The store will offer over 90 different products for the living room, dining room and bedroom curated over seven lifestyle settings across 1,100 square feet to inspire us interior lovers and help us envisage their pieces in our own home - like that's going to be hard!

Launched in Brooklyn NYC in 2002 and now lauded by designers around the world for their modern and mid-century inspired aesthetics, West Elm first landed on my radar a few years ago when they launched the Souk rug that then kick-started a 'Berber fever' around the interiors world. Since then, I have stood at the sidelines looking into their field of fabulous interiors dreaming of incorporating their pieces into my home - so THIS November, that dream may well come true! Below is a wish list of some my favourite pieces.

My West Elm Wishlist

Mid-Century Bedside Tables

This is so my style. Simplistic in design, yet so much substance. This mid-century inspired bedside table borrows its slim legs, angular facade and understated retro details from iconic '50s and '60s furniture silhouettes. If Don and Betty Draper had bedside tables, they'd have looked like this.

Mid-Century Turned Leg Planters

I have been lusting after one of these stylish mid-century turned leg planters for my growing indoor greenery collection for ages.

Each ceramic pot sits on tapered, solid wood legs, and oozes boho chic. Likewise, these spun metal planters in a brass finish are just gorgeous!

Sook Wool Rug

West Elm's interpretation of a traditional Moroccan Berber rug was the product that led me to discover the brand.

This piece is my lynch pin item for our bedroom or living room. It has long been an Instagram hit and I dream of how it would look in our living room. There are other Berber rugs in the interiors sea, but for me, this is The One.

A Tale of Two Coffee Tables

I adore the two-tiered Art Display Coffee Table with its mid-century style, clean lines, walnut finish and glorious glass top.

But, I am also drawn to their luxe Terrace Coffee Table with its antique brass finish and tiered glass shelves hovering above a mirrored glass base. So elegant and timeless. Quel choice!

Sphere + Stem Floor Lamp

How to elevate your living space to penthouse worthy. This sleek and sophisticated sphere + stem floor lamp marries its origins in mid-century aesthetic with a modern contemporary feel.

Mid-Century and Minimalist Console Tables

There is no one winner - both of these console-ation prizes would make me feel like I had struck gold! Firstly, I love the retro feel of the marble-topped Reeve console table with its stained solid wood base, This would be perfect either beside our fireplace or in our entryway, as it is compact in size, yet big on style.

However, I equally love their Box Frame Console with its sleek minimalist design, which too would complement the mono tone vibe of our hallway or would be perfect beside our fireplace along side our black metal log holder. Decisions, decisions!

So that's my wishlist. With the launch set for some time in November and Christmas coming shortly thereafter, I guess I need to ensure my place on Santa's nice list. Especially if I am expecting the Fella in Red to haul a couple of bedside tables, and a Souk rug down the chimney!

West Elm will open in Arnotts this November, watch this space for more details! Until then, you can create your own wish list by browsing around their UK site: www.westelm.co.uk.
