Christmas at Home // The Living Room

As I put away all our Christmas decorations I thought I would share some photos of Christmas in our home this year. I so enjoyed decorating the house, and giving it that cosy hygge vibe. So my first gallery is of our living room.

My rare breed sheepskins from the queen of cool Cowboy Kate cast over the sofas and chairs, fluffy Mongolian sheepskin cushions from TK Maxx and cosy throws from Foxford really made it so warm and inviting.

I styled my coffee table with lots of pine cones and silver baubles and mercury toned tealight holders along with some silver tree beading I just let fall between all the gaps on my coffee table tray to give a luxe texture to it all,

I have a few of these beautiful candle holders from The White Company dotted around the house that I originally bought for our wedding table decor. I still love them and they look so classic and timeless. I just added some pine cones I had found on a forest walk and dip-painted white around the pillar candle for a more festive feel.

I loved driving into the house and seeing the windows lit up with these star light lamps from Ikea. They look great, yet are so cheap, and can be flat packed away neatly every year.

Even my Breakfast at Tiffany's cinema poster gets a touch of festive decoration.

I like to create little table vignettes around the house like this one in the living room with an on trend hygge vibe,

My charity shop wooden gazelles did a good job too as stand in reindeers on my mantelpiece.

I never got tired of walking up the hall and seeing our stunning Christmas tree through the double doors twinkle and sparkle. After years apartment living with limited space, I so enjoy having more space to have a big tree.

I fell in love with this old sledge that I spotted in a vintage store in North Berwick (just outside Edinburgh) a few years back and though it was July, and David couldn't figure out why I wanted to buy a sledge in the middle of summer, I knew I had to get it and was so glad I did.

I've got some beautiful baubles and decorations over the years, and every Christmas I add a few more to the collection. It all started when we received  a set of Newbridge Silverware tree decorations as a wedding gift from a dear family friend for our first Christmas as a married couple (our wedding was just before the festive season). When we were honeymooning in New York I also picked up some fabulous decorations in Macy's, Pottery Barn and Crate & Barrel and ever since, when I put them on the tree, I'm reminded of that very first Christmas together in Edinburgh - just the two of us, in the midst of heavy snowfalls, all cosied up in our little flat.

This teardrop glass bauble is one of my favourite tree decorations. It's from The White Company, who have by far the best decorations every year.

This year's addition from The White Company, was a set of six of these stunning glass baubles and some glass beaded snowflakes. So beautiful!

Nothing beats that warm and inviting vibe at night with fairy lights strewn around the room.

It was so wonderful to have tea lights everywhere and the festive scents from gorgeous candles wafting through the air.

The view from my favourite seat in the house over the holidays.
