A New Home in Dublin - John Lewis Arrives to Arnotts

When I moved back to Ireland from Edinburgh a few years ago I knew there would be many things I would miss about living in the UK. John Lewis was most certainly one of them. It's the barometer of excellence in retail for the UK High Street.

It's renowned for its excellent customer service, superior product quality, excellent design, and for being above all trustworthy. Got a problem with an item? - it's not a problem at all to deal with them to resolve it. So, before I moved over I did a major buy up of their kitchen utensils, bed linen and homewares. Yes - I bought enough baking utensils to rival Mary Berry's kitchen, cushions galore and a sewing machine (Granny, Lord rest her, would have been so proud!) and between a few van trips and my then trusty 'little red rocket' (My friend Emma's nickname for my pre-millennium red Nissan Micra) we crossed the pond and landed back in Ireland with all in tow.

Since I returned home, I worked for a time at Arnotts where I looked after marketing there, and one of my favourite departments in the store was Kitchen and Homewares. Beautiful bed linen from Foxford to Ralph Lauren and the chicest cookware from Le Creuset to SMEG meant this interiors and homewares obsessed gal was in a Mecca all of her own. So when I heard whispers of John Lewis bringing a collection of their own-brand homeware and furniture products to the store, I was very excited to say the least.

Almost a year on, the John Lewis Home Collection at Arnotts was announced and launched in store, and as I was unable to attend the launch event, I recently popped in to meet my friend and old work colleague Sarah Williams, Arnotts' Head of PR and Communications, to view the new collection.

I was not disappointed. The collection comprises of  a wide selection of products across bed, bath, dining and cookware, furniture and lighting products and is beautifully curated across two floors  - Home, Lighting and Furniture on Level 2 and the Kitchen Collection is naturally within Arnotts' own vast Kitchen Hall on the Basement level.

I definitely felt spoilt for choice with the selection of products available all carefully laid out so as to allow customers to easily digest the offering.

I really liked these glass containers  - they are a stylish way to store cotton wool pads or Q-tips in your bathroom.

I also loved the striped towelling and robes in the Coastal Collection, which are very Missoni-like in design, and they reminded me of when I stayed at the 5-Star Missoni Hotel in Edinburgh (now the G&V Royal Mile Hotel)  a few years ago. These robes would definitely give you that chic hotel luxury vibe at home.

The greys, blues and saffron yellow tones in the Fusion Collection along with the striking ikat prints echo an Eastern influence and this stunning gold lantern (as seen in my collage above) will definitely allude to that vibe.

I particularly gravitated to the Croft Collection with it simplistic design fused with contemporary elegance. I love the cosy feel of the soft brushed cotton of this Appin check bedding. I think the entire Croft Collection is my personal favourite across both home and kitchen.

Of course it goes without saying that the furniture and lighting is to die for, and I was particularly drawn to items with a more Scandi-influenced design like this dining table, chair and bench.

Kitchenware

My first must-have is the range of gorgeous Connoisseur glassware (they would be perfect for our Christmas table this year), closely followed by the Croft Collection tableware.

I also found exactly the type of table napkin I've been looking for, so I bought this set of four called Malvern. It is a natural feeling material and will be perfect for our Christmas table this year.

I was most delighted to received some lovely gifts from John Lewis and Arnotts to celebrate the new launch - lovely pillowcases in divine 400 thread count cotton (which as you can see below are silky smooth), and a gorgeous smelling Lavender and Mint candle, all of which now adorn our guest room - perfect additions to create a welcoming luxurious space for our visitors.

The John Lewis Home Collection is available both in-store and online at www.arnotts.ie. Oh, and by the way the John Lewis Christmas ad was released just yesterday, so if you haven't yet seen it or just want to watch it again here it is.
