Halloween Chic

It's almost Halloween! I've been looking up some chic Halloween and autumnal decor ideas to decorate our home and have found some fab pieces, which I will share with you when I've finished adding them round the house. Here are some of my favourite tricks to try, and treats to buy to add a sophisticated touch to your spooky decor.

Tricks To Try

Porch and entrance decorations - simple but very effective use of pumpkins, branches and autumnal wreaths - with a cut-out bat or two for added effect!

Autumnal wreaths - These Autumn berry wreaths are beautiful. If you are looking for similar try Joeanna Caffrey Flowers at Avoca in Rathcoole has some stunning ones (as do many florists) and there are lovely faux autumnal wreaths in TK Maxx too at the moment.

Lanterns and storm candles - filled with candles and mini pumpkins, again such simple ideas that are so striking and very elegant. Meadows and Byrne and have a great selection of candles of various heights and sizes and some lovely storm lanterns too. I love these ones from The White Company.

I love this idea - using a candle holder or vase add a candle in the centre and surround it with popcorn kernels - then tie some raffia ribbon in a bow around it for a rustic look.

Pumpkin perfection - pumpkins make a fabulous seasonal impact on your hall table decoration. Scoop out the inside to use as a vase with branches, and twigs  - like this one with some handmade bat decorations hanging from it and the one below with flowers.

Spray paint them white and use a marker or transfers to write your Halloween or seasonal messages.

Add some glam to your Halloween gloom using black, gold and glitter paint for a gilt edged effect.

Stack them like in this image below for a contemporary twist.

I've already picked up some nice branches while out walking the dogs. You can leave them au naturale or spray paint them black or gold for added effect and add them to vases or just lean against the room wall. Add some fairy lights for added effect.

Table decor - if you're having a Halloween dinner party here are some elegant ideas to try. Antlers and pumpkins dotted with tealights and candles make for an elegant Scandinavian style centrepiece.

Table centrepiece with a more rustic vibe.

A demi-gold sprayed mini pumpkin makes for a lovely placement setting as does a simple bat shape felt cut-out placed beneath the setting.

Candlelight - candles really create that perfect ambience. Use empty bottles of varying heights with simple white candles and tapers on your table to create atmospheric drama.

Add some skullduggery - There are lots of skull treat bowls and vases to be found in shops everywhere (TK Maxx currently have nice glass ones in different colours). Spray paint a cheap plastic one in white or gold to give it a dramatic effect.

Perfect bar cart display for crafting spooky cocktails.

Treats To Buy

Black wreath from Crate and Barrel - this black wreath has got to be my favourite piece of all. To me, this image defines Halloween chic. So I was gutted to see it has already sold out but I had to share it. Perhaps with a little patience and craftiness I could make similar but this is just stunning. Crate and Barrel have an amazing array of Halloween decorations and inspiration. And they now ship internationally. Prep than credit card it's in for a bumpy broom ride once you start exploring their site.

Mortimer The Black Crow - Rockett St George. Add a touch of Hitchcock's thriller The Birds with this faux crow known as Mortimer. Rockett St George is one of my favourite interiors sites and they have some great gothic inspired Halloween pieces.

Orange and black Halloween tassel garland - Moss Cottage. Moss Cottage is the go to Halloween party decoration site - they have a great selection of partywear online and in store at their shop in Dundrum Co. Dublin. I love these black and orange tassels so I think they maybe on my list of treats to buy.

Halloween fan decorations and trick or treat garland - Moss Cottage. These fan decorations and Trick or Treat garlands again are gorgeous to add a sophisticated look to your decor. Moss Cottage have some of THE best Halloween party pieces that I've seen.

Skull napkins and paper plates - Rockett St George. These Skull napkins and paper plates by Rockett st George are just so cool and have a steampunk, victoriana with a twist kind of vibe.

Black and Gold Pumpkins - Rockett St George. If you don't have time or not into making your own ├╝ber cool online store Rockett St George have an array of fabulous pumpkin decorations that really make a style statement.

Blank Pumpkin Lanterns - Crate and Barrel. I love the chic and contemporary style of these iron black pumpkin lanterns. If I could cast one spell this Halloween it would be to bring Crate and Barrel over here.

So I hope my round up of Halloween tricks and treats inspires you to create your own frightfully fabulous look this spooky season.
